Hello! My name is Sam, a recent university graduate with a BA in English and a minor in Psychology. My passion for writing began at a young age, but came to a head when I attended my first year at Mount Royal University with an undeclared major in 2019. I quickly realized how little I knew about writing, creatively and technically, and was eager to learn from my professors and peers to excel in storytelling. Throughout my degree, I pushed myself to expand my writing styles and focus on what I was passionate about, what drove and inspired me. I completed various Indigenous Studies, Women’s Studies, and Classical Literature courses to develop a broad understanding of the impacts of writing throughout history and how it can be used as a powerful tool in advocacy. Now, post-university, I have begun to question how I can use my writing in impactful ways to convey my thoughts, feelings, and opinions, while also advocating for minority populations, social justice, and social programs.
Outside of writing and advocacy, I love animals, reading, anything crafty, music, fitness, and spending time with those I love. I have worked in many industries including animal care, fitness, eduction, and sales, primarily taking on customer service and managerial roles. I love working with a diverse set of people and have had the privilege of doing so for the last 9 years. I hope to take all of my knowledge from previous positions, combined with my education, and make a difference in my community through writing.
Thank you for joining me on my journey!
– Sam
